A call to action: ISMP’s 2014-15 Targeted Medication Safety Best Practices for Hospitals

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
As a start to its 20th anniversary year, ISMP has just released its 2014-15 Targeted Medication Safety Best Practices for Hospitals. The purpose of this initiative is to identify, inspire, and mobilize widespread, national adoption of consensus-based best practices on specific medication safety issues that continue to cause fatal and harmful errors in patients, despite repeated warnings in ISMP publications. This free webinar will discuss the reason and development process behind the implementation of the best practices initiative. The six designated best practices for 2014-15 will be outlined, and the rationale for each described. Potential strategies for implementation will be presented along with ISMP’s plan for continued resource development and evaluation of these best practices over the next two years.
