These intensive educational activities offer a concentrated program of study to acquire or enhance a practice competency in a targeted subject area. Certificate programs are typically curriculum based, with both a didactic component and a practice component. These activities provide a minimum of 15 contact hours of credit.
For the didactic components, participants must pass prerequisite courses to progress to subsequent topics. Upon completion of the didactic coursework, participants are required to complete a hands-on, capstone practice component. A certificate of achievement is awarded upon successful completion of the didactic and practice components. For pharmacists, ACPE refers to these as practice-based CPE activities.
