Welcome. This website has been designed to provide educational materials related to the 2008 Consensus Conference on the Safety and Efficacy of IV Drug Delivery Systems. The purpose of this conference was to evaluate the safety of intravenous (IV) infusion systems used for medication administration. Specifically, the purpose was to build on the work from the initial Consensus Development Conference that convened in 1999. The Second Consensus Development Conference expanded on the initial conference findings through presentations regarding the impact of medication errors, a review of related standards and guidelines released since 1999, and analyses and perspectives on the different IV drug delivery systems. Through this website, you have access to a preliminary report issued prior to the 2008 conference, a paper describing the results of the 2008 conference and a multimedia presentation capturing a summary of the 2008 conference from the program chair, along with highlights of the expert presentations given during the conference.
