The Role of Store Brand OTC in Patient Self-Care

Activity Description

The overall goal of this activity is to understand the role of store brand products in delivering effective patient self-care in the retail environment.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the changing patient attitudes towards health care and wellness, specifically in the context of OTC products.

  • List important aspects in counseling patients about the attributes of various OTC products and their efficacy.

  • Identify the economic implications of brad, generic, and store brand products.

  • Define the emerging role of pharmacist-dispensed OTC products and the role of pharmacists in effectively interacting with patients seeking these items.
