Faculty & Disclosures Janet Moss, APN-BC, CPAN Janet Moss has worked exclusively in the field of Pain Management for over 12 years. She is presently the Manager of Clinical Operations & the Advanced Practice Nurse for Pain Management Services at Advocate Christ Medical Center, a 650 bed tertiary facility in Oak Lawn, Illinois. In 1997, Janet implemented an in-patient nursing pain service that currently receives over 100 referrals per month. In 2004, working with the Dept of Internal Medicine, Janet formed a "voluntary" Palliative Care service that is now staffed with a full-time APN and part-time physician. Her educational background includes an Associate Degree in Nursing from Daley College, Chicago, IL, a BSN & MSN from St. Xavier University, Chicago, IL. She holds certification in Post Anesthesia Nursing and Pain Management. She is a member of the American Society of Pain Management Nursing and a past president of her local ASPMN chapter. She has lectured extensively on Pain Management and authored several research articles specific to PCA therapy. Today she will discuss a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis conducted on PCA therapy at her institution which resulted in a significant increase in patient safety.
JoAnne Phillips, MSN, RN, CCRN, CCNS JoAnne Phillips has over 26 years of critical care nursing experience. She has been a staff nurse and clinical nurse specialist, caring for critically ill surgical patients and multi-system injured trauma patients. For the past 4 years, she has been the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Patient Safety at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In this role, she has been involved in the development of the rapid response system, cardiac resuscitation, assessment of clinical alarms, medication safety, and battles with blood stream infections and ventilator associated pneumonia. JoAnne plays a pivotal role in evaluation and selection of new technology. JoAnne is a recent graduate of the Patient Safety
Fellowship with the National Patient Safety Foundation and
Health Research and Education Trust. |
