Activity Description

This educational activity will provide an overview of the chronic inflammatory process. Chronic Inflammatory disease is a major cause of morbidity and often leads to reduced quality of life. This activity will review the pathophysiology and etiology of the inflammatory process along with identifying some of the pharmacological approaches to treating chronic inflammatory disease. A summary of treatments available for rheumatoid arthritis, plaque psoriasis, and crohn’s disease will also be presented.

Learning Objectives

The target audience for this activity includes pharmacists. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Summarize available treatments for the chronic inflammatory diseases (CIDs) rheumatoid arthritis (RA), plaque psoriasis, and Crohn's disease
  • Describe the etiology of CIDs
  • Outline the pathophysiology of CIDs
  • Explain the pharmacologic approach to treating CIDs
