Activity Description

The purpose of this CE is to give technicians an overview of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in children and adults in order to better understand and engage this patient population. In this course, you will learn the common signs and symptoms of GHD and the ages when most children are diagnosed. This course will also cover the different types of tests used to diagnose GHD, as well as the other causes to common symptoms that may be unrelated to GHD. You will dive into the medications most commonly used to treat GHD, how they are supplied and stored, as well as financial assistance available for patients and their families.

Learning Objectives

The target audience for this activity includes pharmacy technicians. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the presentation, prevalence and risk factors for growth hormone deficiency.
  • Describe the goals of therapy and prognosis of growth hormone deficiency.
  • Outline the current treatment options for growth hormone deficiency.
  • Explain the important workflow processes to consider when dispensing medications for growth hormone deficiency.
