Activity Description

This is a featured CE activity on the Center for Specialty Pharmacy Education (CSPE) website. CSPE is the educational hub of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP). Most CSPE activities include the pathophysiology and clinical therapeutics of various disease states in which specialty pharmacy products and services are provided. CSPE also covers legal, regulatory and operational topics relevant to specialty pharmacy practice.

One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. It is imperative that pharmacists are aware of the novel agents available for prostate cancer. This session will cover the mechanism of action of each of the prostate cancer therapeutics available and the efficacy and safety parameters.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity includes pharmacists and nurses.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Describe the epidemiology, risk factors, and pathology of prostate cancer.
Identify the mechanism of action of available therapeutics utilized in the management of prostate cancer.
Develop individualized management plans for patients with prostate cancer involving the selection of optimal treatment strategies.
Formulate approaches to managing patients with prostate cancer receiving treatment.
