Activity Description

Collecting, reporting and analyzing data are at the heart of a “healthy” stewardship program and part of the core elements set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Being a stewardship scholar, while not always easy, should be an important goal and metric for your program. This presentation discusses gaps in the stewardship literature, simple strategies for being successful in stewardship scholarship and potential roles for you as a mentor or mentee. This program is not intended to teach you study methodology or provide a “how to” on publishing your work, but it will hopefully offer something to both the budding clinical researcher and the seasoned scholar.

This is a featured CE activity on the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Education Center (SIDPEC) website. SIDPEC is the educational hub of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP). The SIDPEC portal provides educational activities on infectious disease pharmacotherapy for clinical pharmacists, health‐systems pharmacists, community pharmacists, and other allied‐health disciplines.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify key gaps in the antimicrobial stewardship literature
  • Discuss opportunities within antimicrobial stewardship programs to meet scholarship needs
  • Identify strategies to increase the scholarly output of your antimicrobial stewardship program
